world's slimmest phone - the Ascend P6 was announced by Huawei

The P6 is expected to feature an 8 megapixel camera on the back, and a 5 megapixel camera on the front, with a 720p, 4.7-inch display and a 1.5GHz quad-core processor. 8GB of internal storage and 2GB of RAM, 2000 mAh battery complete the phone.

The key selling point of the Huawei Ascend P6 is its extremely slim profile - just 6.18mm. According to the company that's enough to guarantee it the world's slimmest smartphone title. The Ascend P6 is also quite light at 120 grams.

Whilst the handset’s technical specifications are not enough to challenge the latest models from Apple or Smasung, the P6’s price might offer consumers pause for thought – expected to retail at £25 a month (compared to £35 a month for its main rivals).

The P6 will launch only on 3G networks though Huawei have promised a 4G model for later in the year. Richard Yu, the chief Executive Officer of Huawei, described it as a “star among smartphones”.

The P6 will be available in black, white and pink. It will ship to the UK in June to be sold through Orange, O2, the Carphone Warehouse, TalkTalk, Vodafone and Amazon.
